How to Stay Motivated on the hCG Diet!

Set reasonable goals!

If you started this diet because you want to be skinnier than you were in high school, the frustration of not being able to obtain that goal might make you want to quit.  Start with smaller goals, like 10 pounds or a dress size, and make them bigger as you succeed.

Reward yourself often!

Have a reward for each goal you achieve.  Not a food reward of course, but a spa treatment, item of clothing, movie, or other fun outing.  Rewarding yourself more often for reaching smaller goals can help keep you motivated throughout the entire diet.

Build a support system

Tell friends and family about your diet so they know to support you and not throw temptation your way.  While you can’t expect diet-friendly foods at all social events, at least they will know not to take it personally when you pass on the dessert.

Find online support

You can find free online support communities at Yahoo! Groups, MSN Groups and on iVillage.com.  The community on the hCG 1234 Facebook page is very active and offers great support from hCG 1234 and other hCG dieters! www.facebook.com/hCG1234

Know “what’s for dinner”

Forgive yourself for setbacks

It’s difficult to be “good” all the time!  Don’t beat yourself up if you eat something you should not have.  Just make a recommit to yourself to following the hCG diet!

What is a Steak Day?

Study Shows Keeping a Food Journal Leads to Weight Loss

Keeping a journal has been shown to help people lose weight, according to researchers.

Want to lose weight? According to a new study, dropping the pounds is as easy as keeping a food journal.

Researchers from the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle studied the eating behaviors of 123 overweight, previously inactive women for a year. Women who kept food journals and consistently wrote down the foods they ate lost about six pounds more than women who didn’t.

Women who reported skipping meals lost almost eight fewer pounds than women who did not, and those who ate out for lunch at least weekly lost on average five fewer pounds than those who brought in their lunch.

Researcher Anne McTiernan, MD, PhD, and her team wrote in the study, “Eating in restaurants usually means less individual control over ingredients and cooking methods, as well as larger portion sizes.”

Tips for creating your food journal:

• Write down what you’re eating throughout the day, rather than saving it up to log at the end of the day. Also, jot down how you are feeling when you eat, and how what you eat makes you feel.

• Record your level of hunger along with the foods you eat.

• Be honest. Measure portions, read food labels, and write down both your slipups as well as your more virtuous meals.

The study appears in the latest issue of the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Imagine you’ve never been more than 10 miles from your home. Never could you comprehend any kind of transportation outside of your favorite horse. You have grown up in a place where distant lands are spoken of but you really have no concept of them. Yet, you feel the unjust effects of a faraway kingdom on your daily life. You work your land and have to turn over most of your crops to a King as a tax. You are never given a say on how your tax is used and never feel any positive effects from this taxation. Kings are rulers and there is no other alternative. You rights as an individual have never been written or expressed. You feel them inside and recognize their violations but how do you express your desire for freedom?

Today, because of courageous men and women who dreamt of a different way, we can express our right to be free. The Founding Fathers of the United States of America set out to change thought and teach freedom for all men. They established a nation in accordance with these principles and liberties. It has served as a blueprint for democracies worldwide as monarchies fell and men recognized their rights to be free.

This is the legacy of July 4th 1776 and we are grateful for those inspired men and women who established this nation.
